Objectives - determination of the fundamentals of carbonization of sunflower husk, waste paper, cotton, and lignin in wood coal and steam gasification of obtained wood coal in gas with high content of hydrogen. Methods of research - standard methods for solid fuel research and new methods for assessment of carbonization, steam gasification and CO2 absorption processes. Two modifications of the new experimental installation with microchannel reactors were created for waste carbonation. Carbonization of waste with high content of cellulose - cotton, cotton cloth (CC), and paper (after their impregnation both with distilled water and 5% water solution of H3PO4) - was investigated. Pre-impregnation of samples with 5% water solution of H3PO4 enabled to increase the yield of dry coal from CC in 1.55 times and from paper in 1.50 times. The processes of carbonization of sunflower husk (SH) after preliminary impregnation with pure distilled water, 0.2% water solution of CaO, and 5% water solution of NaOH and H3PO4 and lignin (pure and impregnated with 5% water solution of H3PO4) were investigated. The yields of dry coal from the dry samples of SH after preliminary impregnation with distilled water, 0.2% water solution of CaO, 5% water solution of NaOH, and H3PO4 was 28.11, 29.69, 37.62, and 51.10% respectively. The yield of dry coal from dry samples of lignin after preliminary impregnation with distilled water and 5% water solution of H3PO4 was 54.48 and 83.51% respectively. For all samples, the temperatures of the beginning exit of the main part of volatile fraction were determined. The influence of SH carbonization conditions on the composition of the gas obtained after the condensation of liquid compounds is studied. The dry synthesis gas containing hydrogen to 81.4, 74.3, and 69.7 vol. % was obtained as a result of steam gasification and carbonation of the lime from waste of CC, SH, and lignin respectively.
