That conditions are the presence of a defect in the protective coating, cathodic polarization and the presence of corrosive environment. It was established that chemical composition of polymer films during destruction process practically not changed. At this stage the destruction was exhibited in destroying of an adhesive tape and primer, followed by going out of the filler material on the cover surface and to environment, which is caused both with elution (desorption) of filler material and adsorption of salts and products of their interaction on the polymer surface. The mechanism of electrochemical degradation of polymer coatings was clarified. It was suggested that the products formed in the environment from its components under cathodic polarization have much more effect on pipeline corrosion than the products of polymer tape coating degradation.
