An efficient mathematical tools are worked out to solve the problems of durability and reliability of structures, to study the dynamic processes in complex structural elements. Improved The method for modeling of wave processes, based on a grid-characteristic approach is improved, which allows the numerical experiments reveal the location of stress concentration, the zone of plastic deformation and the zone of violating the integrity of the structure. The problem of identification of cylindrical shell damage by vibration diagnostics methods is considered. The mathematical finite-elements model is made for viscous elastic deformation of composites. Free and forced vibrations of a bilinear oscillator, modeling a cylindrical shell with damage, are studied. A number of parameters useful for the damage identification, is found.
