As the basic descriptors for typology have been used: type of geological substratum (chemical composition of top layer rock), geomorphological (average height above sea level) and morphometric (area) characteristics of basins. The list of the basic taxonomical classification units (water bodies), numbering 48 units is developed. By results of work the vector spatial layer of the basic typogenical structures of the water basins, being a basis for modernisation of observation system of surface waters according to the international standards is received. The modified probabilistic approach is developed for an estimation of surface water quality. According this an estimations of a status of surface water by ammonium, nitrites, nitrates and phosphates in the rivers of the basic pools in Ukraine was executed. Data of a hydrometservice observation about modern chemical composition of surface waters in Ukraine are generalised for years 2008-2010. The quantitative estimation of surface waters quality was executed agrees modern Ukraine standards.
