The object of the research - complex of documents collected at the contaminated areas of Ukrainian Polissya. The aim - rescue and preservation of documentary heritage of the population injured by the Chornobyl disaster. The research methods - methods of specific document processing to provide their safety and suitability for the research; methods of historical source studies for the document classification and identification; informational analysis and synthesis for studying and systematization of the document complex. Over 7,000 archival documents were processed and studied that formed 420 personal records as well as their primary register and analytical descriptions were compiled. Scientific novelty of the work consists in the fact that for the first time the documentary complex that had been created during explorations of the abandoned (after the Chornobyl disaster) settlements is being studied. The new scheme for document fund processing, which is suitable for the usage in specific conditions of its acquisition was invented. Results of the research will be used in the process of formation of the Museum-Archive of the Ukrainian Polissya Folk Culture and during further researches. Because of the increasing destruction processes in the settled out villages, the work on rescuing documentary heritage at the contaminated areas with its scientific study should be continued.
