Synthesis of new transition metal carbene complexes. The goal of the study is optimization of metalcarbene complex structure for catalysis of halogenarene hydrodehalogenation. Methods of the study are synthetic, spectral (NMR spectroscopy), analytical (chromatographic, elemental analysis), X-ray diffraction study. The synthesis of new sterically hindered carbene complexes of palladium(II), nickel(II), cobalt(II), iron(II), copper(I) on the basis of 1,3-diarylimidazol-2-ylidenes, 1-alkyl-3,4-diaryl-1,2,4-triazol- 5-ylidenes and 1,3-dimesityl-5,6-dihydro-4Н-pyrimidin-2-ylidenes was elaborated under the interaction of the corresponding carbenes with metal salts. The catalytic action of the synthesized metal carbene complexes in halogenarene hydrodehalogenation was studied (p-dichlorobenzene and hexachlorobenzene). It was found that sterically hindered transition metal carbene complexes show higher catalytic efficiency than related sterically open structures. The best results on catalytical efficiency were obtained for a cluster complex 1,3-bis-[(2,6-dibenzhydryl)phenyl]imidazol-2-ylidenpalladium iodide, which considerably enhance the effectiveness indices of the known analogues. The obtained data have significance for the development of halogenarene hydrodehalogenation catalysis and preparative synthesis of carbene complexes of transition metals. The areas of possible use are catalysis of halogenarene hydrodehalogenation and synthesis of stable carbenes and transition metal carbene complexes.
