Ovcharenko Institute of biocolloidal Chemistry NAS of Ukraine popup.description2 The studies of equilibrium and dynamic properties of composite interfacial layers is one of priority directions of modern science because such layers are a constituent part of many technical and natural systems which include liquid interfaces. The dynamic response of interfacial layers on external perturbations is determined by their state (composition, structure, interactions) and relaxation processes in them. In particular, interactions between single molecules can lead to formation of 2D or 3D aggregates (domains or nano-particles) or complexes of molecules (e.g. polymer/surfactant complexes), which substantially change the properties of interfacial layers. In this work, on the example of individual and mixed surface layers of dodecanol and SDS, it was shown that formation of aggregates (domains) in a surface layer has a considerable influence on its mechanical (viscoelastic) properties. This is explained, firstly, by the possibility of mass-exchange processes between aggregates and surrounding expanded phase of the surface. Secondly, it is related to the possibility of interaction between the aggregates at deformations of the surface. The obtained results allow to understand better of the basic factors which determine mechanical properties and stability of liquid dispersion systems.
