Corg. sedimentation flux into the benthal of continental slope varies between 17 - 143 g·m-2·year-1. The intensity of organic matter production by autotrophic microbes including methane- and sulfide-oxidizing microorganisms within the chemocline at the periphery of the Black Sea H2S-zone reaches 42-61 g Corg.· m-2 · year-1 which is comparable with the average estimates of biosedimentation.
