Availability and need for software in national academy institutes was investigated. The survey of the open source software market, based on this analysis, was made and the list of the open source software, recommended for distribution in the NAS of Ukraine was formed. Methodological and technological basis of implementing and using open source software in the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was proposed. An architectural design of the infrastructure required to support the proposed technology was provided. Suitable software for supporting the proposed technology was chosen and tested. The draft regulation on Open Source Software Fund of NASU for practical implementation of the proposed technology was developed.
