The aim of research is to develop recourse-saving technology, in which natural gas is not used in the technological cycle and which reduce the volume of platinum and its alloys. Works on getting basalt materials are rational because of the fact that the basaltic rocks (raw materials) are widely distributed in the territory of Ukraine. Basalt fiber can be effectively used in the manufacturing of separate structural elements and nuclear power plants, as well as it is one of the most efficient insulating materials; aircraft mats, BTSH cords , plates were developed based on basalt fiber. Key practical results: а) Analysis of existing technologies for UBF manufacturing (fiber diameter - 1-3 mkm) is performed. Cupola furnaces, electric furnaces, melting furnaces, baths, electric furnaces are used for rock melting. Research on the possibility of obtaining fibers with low-temperature plasma, as well as experimental works on the induction heating of basalt source of high frequency are carried out. In Ukraine basalt melting is performed only in tank furnaces with gas burners. Method of the primary fibers blowing (PFB) is used for the micro-ultrafine fiber production with rock melting. In this case, the method of primary fiber bulge by the heated gases flow (they go from the nozzle of the combustion chamber with great speed) is taken as the basic one. In other countries production of fibers from the rock is performed mainly in two ways: primary fibers bulge with steam or compressed air and melt processing into fiber on multiroll centrifuges. Spinneret feeders, made from "platinum-rhodium" alloy are used in all technologies for UBF production by using PFB method. б) The prototype furnace for basalt melting is designed. The furnace consists of a body made in the form of a hollow cylinder with a bottom. There are three units inside the trunk: charge loading unit, loading and melting control unit, melting unit. Preparation of raw materials includes crushing of basalt to 1.5 - 5 mm fractions. Prepared furnace charge is loaded through loading window into the charge loading unit and using a screw mechanism is moved to the loading and melting control unit. Visual inspection of the process can be performed through an observation device. Melting inductor is installed in the central part of the unit. Melting device made from the platinum-rhodium alloy is installed in the inner part of the inductor; spinneret slot is in the bottom, spinneret made from "platinum-rhodium" alloy can be embedded. The temperature regime is controlled permanently by installed thermometers The design of the furnace prototype provides the use of melting device heat for heating of the basalt mixture of in the loading unit. Multi-layer insulation of the furnace is sued; it provides a reduction in heat loss during the operation. Power source of the high-frequency furnace is provided by terristornym converter with adjustable capacity of 60 kW. The following were made during the reporting period: an experimental prototype furnace, stove top cover shell, an inductor, a sample of the alloy, sample of platinum-rhodium substitute alloy (alloy based on chromium). The tests of platinum-rhodium substitute alloy were carried out in air atmosphere. The result is satisfactory. Further work was stopped due to lack of funding.
