Blocking the expression of a key protein of early stage of autophagy Beclin 1 led to cell death of SKOV3 during starvation for arginine, so it is likely that autophagy is a key factor of SKOV3 cell survival under conditions of arginine deficiency. It was revealed that the action of the autophagy inhibitor chloroquine on a background of arginine starvation prevents subsequent recovery of cell growth. Used cell line can serve as a convenient model for studies of signaling mechanisms involved in the regulation of process of autophagy with individual amino acids.
