Aim of research - to examine the origin, growth and precocity of horses of Shetland breed of 2008 - 2011years of birth; to justify selection of horses in herd consigned for reproduction; on the ground of studied material to work out scientific and practical guidance for control of linear and weight growth of young Shetland pony. Methods of research - scientific- industrial with usage of laboratory-analytical and biometric analysis of interior and exterior features of pony. A scale of linear and weight growth of young Shetland pony was developed with purpose to use it for defining a comprehensive evaluation. It was found that from eight possible blood groups Shetland pony have in their genotype two to four blood groups (A, B, C, K). Presence of four blood groups increases variability of genotypes of ponies. Phenotypes factors stipulate carrying out of the first complex assessment of young animals not earlier than in one year's age. Field of application - agricultural production.
