The purpose of the work: Creating of a coordinated approach to ensure environmental safety of the Sea of Azov and the Kerch Strait for the purpose of formation of national (regional) management systems and coastal resource management. Research Methods: Realization of joint expeditions (MHI NAS of Ukraine and the Southern Scientific Center of RAS) in the Kerch Strait. Performing of a number of intercalibrating measurements of the basic thermodynamic and optical parameters of the marine environment. A joint survey of the entire area of the strait. Satellite imagery of the Kerch Strait during the expeditions. Exchange measurements. Comparison of measurements with the data of model calculations. Mapping the main parameters. The main results: 1. For the first the series of intercalibrating measurements were performed using basic measuring devices MHI NASU and SSC of RAS. This helps ensure uniformity of measurements of main parameters of the marine environment. 2. For the first time a complete survey of the thermodynamic and optical parameters of the Kerch Strait was performed. 3. For the first time calibration data from optical satellites of suspension concentration and chlorophyll-A in the Kerch Strait and Sea of Azov was performed.
