The results of our research and practical experience of farm suggest that in order to increase productivity and adaptive capacity of the young calves to 6 - months of age, you must consider the species composition of population, economic and climatic conditions of Western Steppe of Ukraine. Keeping calves up to 6 - months of age in individual houses in the open air in winter, as the optimal way of rearing technology, provides: implementation of adequate comfort for the growth and development of the young, better their physiological development, increase of economic efficiency of growing calves from birth to 6 - months of age, 3.2%, аnd increases the productivity of the implementation of the genetic potential of animals - live weight of calves at the age of 6 months - 180 kg, which represents an increase to the average herd of 3.4 - 4.5%.
