Based on the obtained experimental data the mathematical model of a ball mill is proposed and optimal parameters of regulator for controlling the feeding of the raw coal to the mill are calculated. The technique for diagnostics of condition of a ball mill during coal milling is developed for improvement of reliability of mill operation. The functional automation diagram for ball mill is developed with application of up-to-date implements of measurement and actuators. There is protection against emergency situations in the developed diagram. There is also possibility for data communication by means of the supervisory control and data acquisition system.
