Quantum dot heterostructures, e.g. SiGe/Si structures, will be particularly emphasized with respect to their efficient photovoltaic behavior. Stress effects in the heterostructures of various chemical contents, geometry and morphology, as well as the stress-controlled behavior of electronic, optical and photoelectrical properties of the heterostructures will be studied. It is expected that the project results would advance our understanding of the physical processes in stressed heterostructures, opening new ways of fabricating novel nanodevices with precisely controlled properties.
