Heating leaf of highly resistant varieties at 38 ° C reduced the rate of CO2 assimilation by 30 - 40% and by 60 - 65% in sensitive varieties, as compared to the control at 25oC. It was found that the leaf temperature increase for the sensitive varieties reduced the carboxylase reaction Rubisko speed (vc) by 50-60% and oxygenase (vo) by 20-30%, whereas for the tolererant varieties this decreased vc by 15-20% but increased the value of vo by 140 - 160%. Rubisko specificity factor (the ratio vc/vo) decreased almost two times and equovaly in all varieties studied. The findings suggest that the degree of inhibition of photosynthesis and Rubisco activity in the leaves of differing in resistance varieties of winter wheat under high temperature is determined to a large extent by the decrease in Rubisco activation due to reduced part of carbamylated (catalytically competent) reaction center of the enzyme, and not because of the increase in quantity of blocked centers.
