Computational experiments and analysis were carried out on the basis of new methods and research programs developed for investigation of adhesion effect at normal and sliding contact of elastic rough bodies with curved nominal surface. The analysis of results of numerical experiments on the influence of adhesion on contact characteristics under conditions of normal contact demonstrated that the magnitude of adhesion parameter significantly affects contact characteristics at macro-level while asperity density parameter does not have noticeable effect within the framework of the present model of rough layer. The analysis of results of numerical experiments on the influence of adhesion on contact characteristics under conditions of sliding contact demonstrated that from two considered roughness parameters the essential effect on contact characteristics such as contact pressure, displacements, friction force, compressive force, shearing stresses, etc. has one parameter that characterizes micro-characteristics of contact. Parameter that describes density of asperities does not have significant effect on contact characteristics.
