A.Romodanov, AMS of Ukraine" popup.description2 Object of study - patients with consequences of traumatic injury of spinal cord Subject of study - influence of epidural electrical stimulation on neurological status of patients with consequences of traumatic injury of spinal cord. Objective of study - to improve results of treatment of patients with consequences of traumatic injury of spinal cord, application of epidural electrical stimulation in restorative surgical treatment complex. Methods - neurological examination, electrophysiological study (ENMG and transcranial magnetic stimulation) and statistical analysis. Based upon results of electrophysiological studies we concluded that under influence of epidural electrical stimulation number of axons which cross damaged area of spinal cord and number of motor neurons of lumbar and cervical intumiscence increased statistically. We proved that epidural electrical stimulation potentiates remyelinization processes in damaged axons. Epidural anode stimulation of lumbar intumiscence of spinal cord is an effective method to decrease or even reduce spasticity less than 3 points by Ashwoth's Scale. In patients with partial injury of spinal cord epidural electrical stimulation of posterior trunks of spinal cord is the method of choice to reduce chronic neuropathic pain syndrome. Epidural electrical stimulation is an effective method to restore motion and bladder control in patients with partial injury of spinal cord. Application of epidural electrical stimulation in complex of restorative treatment of traumatic injury of spinal cord allowed us to increase quality of life in 72,4% of patients. Area of application - neurosurgery. .
