The evolution of texture and dislocation density during high pressure torsion were studied. Evolution of texture demonstrates activity of prismatic and pyramidal slip systems of dislocations. Deformation curves and the information about the evolution of the microstructure of nanocrystalline materials under uniaxial compression at temperatures 4,2-300 K were obtained. It was shown that dislocation slip and twinning are main microscopic mechanisms of plastic deformation of nanocrystalline titanium and zirconium. It was found that the activity of twinning increases with decrease of deformation temperature and cause significant reorientation of crystallites in the low temperature plastic deformation.
