Designs of torches for consumable electrode welding of aluminium alloys at higher speeds were developed. It is shown that increase of penetrability of constricted-arc welding process allows implementing the advantages of high-speed welding of thermally sensitive aluminium alloys. Features of mass transfer and nature of heat distribution in the joint zone were studied, and optimal configurations of working surfaces of tools for friction stir welding of butt and overlap joints of aluminium alloys, were studied. Features of fine structure of welds of high-strength aluminium-lithium alloy 1460 produced by melting at nonconsumable electrode argon-arc welding and in the solid phase by friction stir welding were investigated. It is established that fatigue strength of samples of AMg2M alloy welded joints made by friction stir welding, is close to that of base metal.
