To solve this problem, a new method for the determination of antioxidation properties of substances by accelerated oxidation at elevated temperatures has been developed. The essence of the method is the determination of the induction period of substrate oxidation. This period is the time interval between the moment when the sample reaches the predetermined temperature and the moment when the oxidant pressure in the hermetically sealed measuring system begins to fall sharply. A substrate, a mixture of purified methyl ether of sunflower oil (biodiesel), has been selected and synthesized for the method developed. The induction period of oxidation of the proposed substrate was determined in the presence of tert-butyl catechol. The experiments were made at 110?C and antioxidant concentrations of 50, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 ppm; two sequential measurements were made under the same conditions. The dependence of the induction period of substrate oxidation on antioxidant concentration has been established; this dependence is linear with high correlation coefficient value (R2 = 0.9805). In terms of properties, the substrate developed is on a par with methyl linoleate, which is widely used in analytical practice, and is suitable for practical application. An advantage of the substrate developed is relatively low prime cost (about UAN 2 for the gram in the case of making on a laboratory scale) as compared with methyl linoleate.
