Development of new solid-fuel hydrogen technologies for alternative power generation and chemical industry. popup.stage_title Head Dudnyk Oleksii, Registration Date 24-01-2013 Organization Coal Energy Technology Institute of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2 Object of research - steam conversion of coal with different content of ash: bituminous coal of Lviv-Volyn deposit and Alexandria brown coal of Dnieper deposit. Objectives - determination of ash content effect on the reactivity of bituminous and brown coals. Methods of research - standard methods for solid fuel research and new methods for assessment of steam conversion of Ukrainian coals using Fuel Cell Test Installation. Based on the analysis of coal energy technologies with new systems to remove ash, sulfur, nitrogen, and CO2, it was founded that the greatest efficiency of coal-fired thermal power plants with CO2 removal can be achieved by combined cycle plants with hydrogen production. Ukrainian bituminous and brown coals were cleaned and activated by steam for an increase in their reactivity. Low-ash (Ad = 5,1%) and high-ash (Ad = 56,4%) coals were obtained as a result of particle separation of bituminous coal (BC) (Ad = 33,1%) in water solution of ZnCl2; low-ash (Ad = 9,81%) and high-ash (Ad = 65,62%) coals were obtained from particle separation of brown coal (BrC) (Ad = 31,44%) in CCl4. Dry gas with content of hydrogen up to 67 vol. % was obtained during steam conversion of volatile (SCV) of BC at temperatures up to 690 oC. Dry gas with content of hydrogen up to 62 vol. % was obtained as a result of SCV of BrC at temperatures up to 550 oC. Synthesis gas with content of hydrogen to 58 vol. % was obtained during steam gasification of BC cokes at temperatures from 810 to 930 oC; synthesis gas with content of hydrogen up to 62 vol. % was obtained during steam gasification of BrC cokes at temperatures from 720 to 850 oC. The effect of a decrease in ash content on an increase in the reactivity of the obtained BC and BrC cokes is determined. Product Description popup.authors Дудник О. М.
