Object of the research is a value component of the modernization processes. The purpose of the research: determination of qualitative and quantitative specifics of transformation system of values and its impact on the modernization processes, detection of effective mechanisms of harmonization of values for modernization considering the value heterogeneity of society and the development of practical recommendations on forming a promising system of values that will promote the economic and civilizational modernization of Ukrainian society. The methods of the research: scientific justification, logical and historical forecasting; sociological survey of the adult population; theoretical and logical analysis of economic and mathematical modeling, and others. The main scientific results consist in the following: is deepened understanding of the place and the quality of human capital as a social base of modernization of society; compared condition of value consciousness of Ukrainians with global development tendencies of value systems; received a holistic view relevant for the area of value orientations and structure of value consciousness of Ukrainians, identified specificity of dynamics; estimated dominant values regarding their place and role in the development and modernization of the economy, education and science, ecology, family, civic activities; defined value and normative principles and determinants of modernization processes on micro-and macro-levels; are singled out "growth points" in the formation of a new culture of cooperation between the authorities and the public, between the state, employers of all forms of property, labor force and society; developed a set of practical recommendations for the formation of civil identity, active vital position of young generations and system of values that is appropriate to the challenges of modern Ukrainian society. The scientific novelty: singled out six key principles of successful models of development and modernization; proved that among the modern challenges of modernization exactly cultural values serves the determinant of the key principles of successful modernization; identified the role and function of the value component of the modernization processes; proved that the Ukrainian way of modernization has not succeeded yet because it includes the controversial elements - the ideology of "Europeanness" and willingness to resist autocracy combined with psychological isolationism and traditionalism. The survey results were tested at the state level, within the limits of work carried out 4 articles published in scientific journals; research work results presented at 3 conferences and roundtables.
