Objective of the work is development of a method to assess the strength of welded structures operating in aquatic environment, based on acoustic emission characteristics of their materials. Features of propagation of AE signals in plates located in water or at their partial immersion were studied. Designs of AE transducers and means for their fastening were developed. Influence of water temperature and water salinity on AE signal parameters and accuracy of AE signal location was studied. Software of technical diagnostic system for conduct testing using AE monitoring of the respective objects, was improved. A method was developed to evaluate the condition of welded structures operating in aquatic environment. Software and AE instrumentation were improved, taking into account the conducted studies. Procedural recommendations on performance of AE testing of such structures were developed. Extent of introduction: verification of obtained results was conducted - assessment of the condition of Kievenergo process piping was performed. Application procedure and AE transducers for operation in aquatic environment and means of their fastening on monitored object surface were developed and respective drawings were made. Procedure of "Examination of technical condition of hot water piping in underground sections of heat networks during performance of acoustic emission monitoring" was prepared. Application: tube and shell welded structures of petrochemical complexes in long-term service in aquatic environment.
