Purpose - to determine the physical-mechanical and physical-chemical properties of Korostenskyi complex granitoids as natural barriers for potential geological repository of radioactive waste. Methods. Methods of comprehensive study of materials and solutions were used: petrographic analysis, X-ray powder diffraction, X-ray electron probe analysis, spectroscopic methods, calorimetric spectroscopy, mathematical modeling, and formal chemical kinetics. A set of studies to determine the sorption and barrier properties of granitoids from wells number 1 (settlement Narodichi), number 50 and number 35 on Polissia area of Korosten pluton, which are located in an area potentially suitable for disposal of radioactive waste. It is determined mineral and chemical composition of granitic rocks and some of their physical properties (density, porosity, gas permeability). It is studied of interfacial Th distribution in the aqueous system with cast intact and crushed rock samples. On the base of critical analysis of experimental data obtained under conditions close to the conditions of potential future geological repository in Ukraine, a model is proposed, using which it is calculated the average values of distribution coefficients (Kd) U, Pu, Np, Am, Cs and Tc in granitic rocks for use in the safety analysis of geological disposal.
