The proposed metrics and noise characteristic estimates are applied in designing novel methods of automatic lossy compression of multichannel data, analysis of their efficiency and comparison to existing approaches. Analysis is carried out for signal-dependent noise and expedience of using variance-stabilizing transfroms is proven. The designed algorithms are tested on real-life SAR, color and hyperspectral images as well as spectrogram sets.
