The cyclization of N-chloro-N-alkoxy-N'-arylureas in 1-alkoxybenzimidazolin-2-ones by action of sodium acetate have been investigated. It was found that in N-chloro-N-alkoxy-N'-arulureas the chlorine atom could be replaced by outer nucleophile and N,N-dialkoxy-N'-arulureas formed at alkoholysis in presence of silver trifluoracetate.
