The aim of work is the study of thermal deintercalation and expansion of cointercalated by organic substances graphite nitrate compounds. The methods are the next: determination of expansion factor, and thermal gravimetric analysis combined with determination of expanded graphite volume. On the basis of thermal gravimetry with simultaneous volume measurements, it was firstly established that thermal deintercalation of modified graphite nitrate is characterized by four successive stages. On the example of the modified graphite nitrate, it has been proposed the new quantitative model of expansion based on the widening of the Griffith’s-like-crack cavity. The kinetic and activation parameters of the thermal deintercalation of cointercalated by organic substances graphite nitrate compounds were determined. The advance of work is in obtaining of the patterns of thermal deintercalation and expansion of graphite nitrate compounds cointercalated by organic matters as well as kinetic and activation parameters of the process. The obtained data can be used in looking for the most appropriate areas of application of specific products for their commercialization into Ukrainian industry.
