The excellent diastereoselectivity, good yield and short reaction time are the noteworthy advantages of the described method. Synthesis of phosphonodipeptides from enantiomerically pure 2-amino-3,3,3-trifluoropropylphosphonate ester using a coupling reaction at the deactivated N-terminal position was successfully performed. Enantiomerically pure (2S,3S)- and (2R,3S)- -trifluoromethyl isoserine derivatives were obtained in good yield and high diastereoselecitvity by Mannich addition of enolates to (SS)-N-tert-butanesulfinyl (3,3,3)-trifluoroacetaldimine.
