The complexes neither affected the infectivity of tobacco mosaic virus (U1 strain) nor demonstrated the bacteriostatic effect against E.coli, B.subtilis and C.albicans. At the same time, a number of compounds demonstrated antitumor activity at micromolar concentrations. Mechanisms of biological activity of the complexes were studied, first of all their unusually high activity in transcription reaction (found at the previous stage of the project). Electrophoretic method Mobility Shift demonstrated that clathrochelates do not bind efficiently to DNA. Kinetic experiments in the transcription system in vitro allow suggesting that active inhibitorsact via the interaction with RNA polymerase - DNA template complex.
