Kholodny Institute of Botany NASU popup.description2 The results of theoretical and methodological development of the exobiological experiment by a model investigation of influence of ionizing radiation on Arabidopsis thaliana seeds are presented. It was shown that dry seeds of this species survived after gamma-irradiation in dozes up to 1000 Gy. The methods of analysis of genetic abnormalities on the subcellular, cellular and organism levels were worked out. A dose-dependent increase in the DNA fragmentation of the dry seeds and chromosomal aberration frequency in the seedlings was determined. A comparison of the dose dependences of growth and cytogenetic parameters, DNA fragmentation, meristematic abnormalities resulting in morphological alterations showed that changes in the rate of growth and morphogenesis of the seedlings are generated by both cyto- and genotoxic effects of gamma-radiation of dry A. thaliana seeds. A role of Hsp90 chaperones in protection of plant cells from cyto- and genotoxic effects of ionizing radiation and in stabilization of plant development was proved by an inhibition analysis.
