Nanostructured Cu- and Ag-containing silica-carbon coatings, based on SiO2 films modified with organic groups with inclusions of carbon nanostructures, for window glass have been obtained by a single-stage sol-gel synthesis method. It has been shown that Cu-SiO2-carbon coatings on glass reduce by 20-50 % the light transmission factor in the wavelength range 400-600 nm and by 50-60 % in the range 600-1100 nm. Ag/CNT/SiO2 composites promise much as constituents of heat-insulating coating. It has been proved that glass coated with a nanocarbon composite obtained by the pyrolysis of polyvinylidene fluoride in the presence of Ni, Co, Cu chloride in a fine-SiO2 matrix absorbs better IR radiation. Recommendations with respect to further progress of works are proposed.
