There was discovered their dependence on the activator composition, matrix structure and presence of oxygen-containing impurities. It is shown that the furnish and activating additive cleanup from the oxygen-containing radicals allows to considerably increase the scintillation parameters of the detectors based on the alkali-earth haloids. There were determined the peculiarities of temperature dependence of the luminescence output in pure and doped NaI and CsI crystals in the range of 10 - 350 K at high-energy excitation.
