Their electronic structure was calculated and electrical and magnetic properties were studied. These scientific results were covered by patents of Ukraine. For the first time in the whole concentration range phase equilibria in the Ti-Ni-{Sn, Sb}, Gd-Ag-Sn, V-Fe-Sb, {Y, Lu}-Ni-Sn, {Zr, Hf}-Ag- Sn, {Gd, Er}-V-Sn, Er-Mn-Ge, {Y, Dy}-Mn-Sn systems was determined at different annealing temperatures. The crystal structures of 58 intermetallic compounds formed in these systems were established, and for some of them physical properties were studied. Complex investigation (X-ray diffraction and DSC analysis, the calculation of the electronic structure, magnetic susceptibility measurements) of VFeSb phase (ST MgAgAs) showed the absence of polymorph phase transition and indicated that the hexagonal phase VFeSb (ST Ni2In) is part of the VyFe2-xSb solid solution. New RV6Sn6 (R = Gd, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Lu) compounds were found and their crystal structures were investigated (ST SmMn6Sn6, ST HfFe6Ge6 for YV6Sn6). All the above mentioned compounds are the first representatives of ternary stannides with rare-earth metals and vanadium. For the first time the existence of R4Mn4Sn7 compounds (R = Y, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Yb, Lu), which belong to the Zr4Co4Ge7 structure type, was established.
