The aim of the research - the analysis of the impact of a systemic crisis of the economy on the state of social development in Ukraine and development of proposals regarding the social development of the railway transport. The method of investigation is the system approach and a comprehensive analysis of the impact of the economic crisis on the state of social development in Ukraine in the conditions of formation of market relations. Conducting a large-scale structural reform of railway transportation in the conditions of fundamental reform and systemic crisis of the Ukrainian economy requires the study of the socio-economic relations, as well as the development of strategies and activities to improve the social standards of the development of railway transport on the basis of the implementation of the relevant economic mechanisms of reforming of social relations. The recommendations of the research can be used by bodies of legislative and Executive authorities, the specialists of the trade unions, academic institutions and organizations and bodies of management of the railway industry, which are engaged in development of the state policy on the issues of social development of the railway transport of Ukraine in the conditions of transition to market relations, restructuring, modernization and development.
