Two neutrino 2b-decay of 116Cd was registered with a half-life of 2.5(5)*1e19 yr and new limits at the level of 1e21-1e22 yr were established on 2b-decay of 116Cd to excited levels of daughter nucleus. The 116CdWO4 detector was studied (deadtime, thresholds); the efficiency of pulse-shape discrimination methods were investigated; radioactive contamination of detector's components and 116CdWO4 crystals was measured; components of detector's background were analyzed. The 116CdWO4 detector was upgraded to improve the background. By analyzing of 1067 h data, background suppression by factor 4 in vicinity of neutrinoless 2b-decay of 116Cd was achieved, which allows to reach a sensitivity to the process on the level of (0.5-1.5)*1e24 yr over 5 years of measurements. Scintillation detector based on crystal 106CdWO4 and light-guide with PbWO4, grown from the archaeological lead, was assembled in ultra-low background set-up with 4 germanium crystals of high purity (at the Gran Sasso laboratory). Electronic chain was adjusted; specially designed trigger unit was tested and adjusted. The sensitivity of the new low background experiment to 2b-decay of 106Cd will be at the level of theoretical predictions on 2b-processes (1e20-1e21 yr).
