The investigation is concerned with processes of synthesis and growth of Ві2Те3 based thermoelectric materials. The work purpose is todevelop material science and technological bases of fabrication of high-quality multi-component Ві2Те3based thermoelectric materials for creation of high-efficient thermoelectric energy converters to provide the improvement of world competitive manufacturing (WCM) of national thermoelectric products. To reach the aim, methods of mathematical physics for temperature and heat fields in thermoelectric media estimation; computer simulation of growth processes, automatic search for velocity allowing to implement the planar front of crystallization and impurity distribution inside the ingot have been performed with the help of asynchronous cellular automaton theory. Based on the results of mathematical and computer simulation of thermophysical processes in both solid and liquid phases, optimal kinetic, thermal and quantitative conditions for multicomponent TEM growth during their growing with vertical zone melting method have been defined, such as thermal conditions, melted growth zone velocity, correlation between the ingot thickness and the heater width, radial and axial temperature gradients, growth conditions that provide both concentration and structure spatial uniformity of thermoelectric material as well as conditions allowing to escape concentration overcooling. The scientific novelty of the work consists in the use of the already developed computer programmes for studies of regularity of growth processes and the development of new effective methods of the processes of thermal mass transfer in the melt and in the crystal including the ways of mechanical stress control and defect formation in the grown material.
