The work purpose is tocreate the material science and technological bases for thermoelectric figure-of-merit improvement, increase in their mechanical strength and stability, those being necessary for thermoelectric energy converters development whose characteristics exceed world competitive manufacturing (WCM). Methods of mathematical physics, hydrodynamics, computer simulation, solid state kinetic transport phenomena, powder material science and methods of optimal control for solutions of multiple-factor tasks were implemented in the present work. Values for characteristic scattering lengths of electrons and phonons in powder structures have been established. Optimal grain sizeof powders have been determined that enable extruded materials figure-of- meritimprovement.The dependence of thermoelectric materials quality on spatial orientation of anisotropic powders has been studied. Hydrodynamic conditions for required influence on the plastic deformation of thermoelectric materials have been defined. Mechanical properties of semiconductor structures correlation with their lattice thermal conductivity has been found out. The effect of elastic anisotropy on thermoelectric materials mechanical parameters has been valued. The equipment for experimental research into the specificity of the extrusion process and the optimized equipment for measurement of parameters of the extruded thermoelectric material has been designed and developed. With optimal control methods employed, optimal inhomogeneity in extruded thermoelectric materials that provide high values of the figure-of merit has been determined. Conditions have been defined and methods of forming high-quality contacts to the extruded material created. The results of the research work have been implemented into the technology of two-stage cooling modules for space applications fabrication, those being mounted on astronavigation systems of telecommunication satellites.
