Kavetsky Institute of Experimental Pathology, Oncology and Radiobiology popup.description2 It was first revealed that the synthetic inhibitors of the polyamines metabolism (DFMO, MGBG, PMG) reduce global methylation level of nuclear DNA in Р388 and L1210 lymphatic leukemias' cells but essentially magnify methylation level in the promoter of the gene of the polyamines biosynthesis key enzyme (ODC) and of the p50 NF-кB transcription factor's subunit's gene. It was first revealed that the natural polyphenols of green tea and red grapes, in contrast to the synthetic inhibitors of the polyamines metabolism, magnify both global methylation level of nuclear DNA in Р388 and L1210 lymphatic leukemias' cells and methylation level in the promoter of the ODC gene and of the p50 and p65 NF-кB transcription factor's subunits' genes. Correlation was found between methylation level in the promoter of the ODC gene, expression of it's protein product and growth rate of the leukemia cells population. It was proved promising development of new means of support cancer chemotherapy based on polyphenolic extracts of green tea and red grapes.
