Porphyrin-based composites of photosensitizers hematoporphyrin, chlorin e6 and Fotolon with nanoscale colloidal gold were created. Enhancement in photodynamic activity of porphyrin-based nanogold compositions was demonstrated in experiments with model solutions, human malignant lymphocytes in vitro and transplanted tumors in vivo. Lifespan of Lewis lung carcinoma bearing mice that received photodynamic treatment with Fotolon-gold nanocomposite 4,5 times exceeded lifespan of untreated mice and 2 times exceeded lifespan of mice photodynamically treated with Fotolon only.
