The main technological parameters of these processes are defined and justified. The recovery process of zirconium tetrachloride with magnesium, the distribution of magnesium and magnesium chloride in a block of the reaction mass, the process of vacuum separation and block properties of magnesium thermal zirconium (chemical composition and structure, the density of the various categories of the block) are investigated. The obtained zirconium sponge on the content of the main impurities and physical properties can be taken as a basis for the production of alloy Zr1Nb for atomic energetic of Ukraine. The optimum technological process regimes of vacuum high temperature processing roughing zirconium sponge are worked out. Hydrogen saturation of initial and modified samples was carried out. Hydrogen concentration in the samples of zirconium alloys before and after the deposition of nitride coatings is defined. Effect of the barrier nitride coatings on hydrogen saturation is studied. High efficiency of surface modification of zirconium alloy samples Zr1Nb by ion-plasma treatment to enhance the stability of the alloy to hydrogen saturation is shown.
