The aim of the research is to study the peculiarities of children's multiple sclerosis and to develop the criteria for diagnostics and tactics of their treatment. The results of the research: it has been found out that in childhood multiple sclerosis, in most cases, begins with optical neuritis (ON) that occurs as papillitis or retrobulbar neuritis (RBN). The prognosis of visual functions at RBN is more favourable than at papillitis. It revealed the dependence of violations of higher psychical functions (HPF) on violations of functioning of nonspecific system of brain of different level. The specific of violations of HPF of the patients with MS with ON can be caused by the disorder of the heterospecific thalamic system that controls the visual attention due to selective realization of relevant sensory stimuli. One of the key roles in reduction of activating cortical and subcortical links belongs to axonopathy of visual nerve that is developing as centrifugal Wallerian degeneration in the thalamic system.
