Purpose: To study the main trends of development of cooperation between Russia, Ukraine and the European Union, to define the strategic vision and the reality of interaction in real and financial sector, to analyze the geopolitical trends that determine the interaction in the triangle of Russia - Ukraine - the European Union. Methods: analysis and synthesis, comparison, abstraction and generalization, induction and deduction, the unity of the historical and logical, statistical analysis. Results: Based on theoretical approaches spatial economy it is grounded the methodological platform for the study of the integration prospects of Russia and Ukraine, identified the need for awareness of the unity of the economic, monetary and financial sector as a methodological basis for the post-crisis development. In the context of the methodology of the economic unity of the components of the space seem contradictory creation Eurozone and its inverted nature. On the basis of a comparative analysis of the economic space of the EU, Russia and Ukraine in the context of determining the density of their constituents shown integration prospects of Russia and Ukraine.
