Semenenko Institute of Geochemistry, mineralogy and Ore Formation popup.description2 Objects of research - the collection of samples of goetite and hematite ores from deposits of Krivoy Rog and Kerch regions. Research methods and apparatus: magnetometry method (magnetometer with Hall sensor), magnetic resonance method (EPR spectrometer RE- 1306 (Russia ), PS100X (Belarus)) , X-ray diffraction (DRON -4M), NGR spectroscopy , X-ray fluorescence analysis. Collections of goetite and hematite ores from deposits of Krivoy Rog and Kerch regions were created. Phase composition, magnetic properties, chemical composition of the samples from collections were investigated. Relatively simple and cost-effective way to convert weakly magnetic minerals (goethite, hematite ) into strong magnetic minerals (maghemite and magnetite) were developed, which include conversion in liquid and dry environments. Transformation of the structure and magnetic properties of hematite and goetite ores in a dry environment is realized by their heat treatment in the presence of biorenewable raw materials (starch) in the temperature range of 300-600 C. Transformation of the structure and magnetic properties of hematite and goetite ores in a liquid medium is realized by their heat treatment in the presence of ferrous salts at temperatures up to 100 C. It was shown that after the special treatment weakly magnetic phase goethite and hematite are transformed into strong magnetic phase magnetite and maghemite. Novelty of developed techniques is that the process of phase transformation does not require high temperatures.
