The method of functions of intercontact gaps has been developed for solving the new class of contact thermoelastic problems formulated on the basis of such a model. This method consists in reduction of the problems to a system of three singular integro-differential equations with the Hilbert kernel for a height of the intercontact gaps, a shift of the surfaces in the slip zones and a temperature jump between the surfaces. On the basis of the proposed approach, shape change of regular relief caused by local wear of contacting surfaces in regions where specific friction force exceeds a threshold value has been investigated. The effect of thermal resistance of a medium filling gaps between bodies with regular relief on evolution of local frictional slip with increasing thermal load has been studied. Contact parameters and three-dimensional stresses in a coated body in frictional interaction with a body with periodic relief has been analyzed taking into account imperfect contact between the coating and the base. The thermoelastic delamination and partial slip of bodies in periodically located regions in the presence of a periodic surface thermal resistance or a periodic array of subsurface circular inclusions has been investigated. The effective contact parameters of the bodies with regular relief (effective contact normal and tangential compliance, effective thermal contact resistance) that are subjected to partial slip have been analyzed taking into account mechanical or thermal effect of an intercontact medium.
