An approach for simulation of deformation processes in structural elements power units under in-service conditions is proposed on the basis of three-dimensional theory of nonlinear thermomechanics with using of numeral methods. The approach takes into account the real shape of structural unit elements and geometrical parameters of operational damages or changes of shape in them after repair procedures and also changes of material properties in time. It makes possible to more accurately (compared to existing engineers approaches) quantify determine the stress state of the structural elements of power units and, as a consequence, their suitability for operation over the park resource. The stress state of high pressure boiler drums of existing units of power plants, which exhausted their park resource, was researched. The rational geometrical parameters of extractions of defects in drum boiler TP-100 unit number 5 DTEK "Burshtynska TES" with operational damages by stress criterion were proposed. It made possible do not deteriorate the strength properties of the drum (in comparison with the drum without extractions). The recommendations developed on the basis of this research were used in the technology of repair works in the drum. The total damages accumulated in metal of drum were determined. The quantitative estimate of its residual life after the repair work and the possibility of its further exploitation were obtained. Based on the researches there was concluded the possible extension of further operation of the drum up to 50 000 hours. Similar work was carried out for drum boiler TP-10 unit number 6 of DTEK " Dobrotvorska TES". A comparative analysis of our results with those obtained by existing in industry approaches was done. It is shown that the refined calculations give results that are quantitatively and sometimes qualitatively different from those obtained using known engineering approaches. The proposed methodology, unlike existent industry ones, makes it possible to identify areas of the most credible appearance of defects and determine causes of their origin.
