Kholodny Institute of Botany NASU popup.description2 This research work deals with growth process peculiarities, hormonal status of the vegetative and generative organs in vascular cryptogamous plants during the ontogenesis. In the course of work there have been studied the morpho-anatomic features and phytohormonal complex of the sporophyte organs of field horsetail (Equisetum arvense L.) that specify the species existence. It has been found that cells from different intercalary growth zones differ in their ultra structural features. It is typical that the intercalary meristem cells have an electronically dense cytoplasm. The start of an active elongation growth involves some increase in the cell somatically active compartment - vacuole that reaches 80% of protoplast volume in a fully differentiated cell. Internode cells have different morphology and are at different stages of differentiation and grow at the expense of cell divisions and cell basipetal extension. Cell internode chloroplasts have a dense membrane system that is evidence of their high photosynthetic activity. Some increase in the a and b chlorophyll content is observed in the summer shoots during successive stages of plant development. The Equisetum arvense L organs have been shown to contain IAA and ABA, cytokinins - zeatin, zeatin, ribozide, zeatin glucoside, izopentenyladenoside and izopentenyladenine as well as gibberellin like substances - GA3, GA4 and GA7. The interdependence between the endogenous phytohormone balance and growth process intensity in Equisetum arvense L plants has been found. The highest levels of free phytohormones forms are typical of summer young overground organs of Equisetum arvense L that is indicative of some intensification in the expression induction of appropriate genes, for which they are signals, and synthesis activation of proteins that are coded by these genes. An appropriate increase in metabolism is necessary to provide an intensive growth and development. In the course of development the content of free forms in the overground parts decreases while the conjugated forms content in the underground parts increases. Transition of plants to the dormancy stage is accompanied by a decrease of IAA, gibberellin like substances and cytokinins content both in the underground and overground parts of sporophyte while ABA increases. The obtained data concerning the localization of native phytohormones in plant organs indicate that they are involved in cell elongation and division processes, in coordination of reactions between these two parts in ontogenetic development. Two forms of lipoxygenase 13-ЛОГ and 9-ЛОГ have been identified in the underground and overground organs of Equisetum arvense L. Some increase in ЛОГ activity is observed in shoots during successive stages of plant ontogenesis.
