The research objective was to investigate biodiversity, structural features and development trends of the main technogenous ecosystems of the region, determine their importance and role in the natural-territorial complexes of the region, and also methodological approaches to the management and accelerated development of the plant component of technogenous ecosystems. An inventory was made of biodiversity of technogenous ecosystems in the south-east of Ukraine. There were found 629 vascular plant species (337 genera, 77 families), registered in the "Biodiversity of technogenous ecotopes" database. Of these, 325 species are adventive. Some blocks of the databases of "Woody and shrub plants in industrial dumps" (64 species), "Rare plant species in the technogenous ecotopes" (47 species), "Early spring species in technogenous ecotopes" (49 species) were created. The population monitoring of the dominant species of technogenous land vegetation was carried out, and the complex of diagnostic features was determined for evaluation of the ecosystems' state. The morphological characteristics of model woody and grassy species were determined. These characteristics are applicable to the indication of vegetation condition in technogenous ecosystems and monitoring of the environment state. The final stages of succession of mine and overburden rock dump vegetation were determined, those stages including formation of woody and shrub plant communities or xerophytic grassy communities. A systemic principle of biogeocenosis development dynamics was originated. This principle is based on the correlation between the time of biogeocenosis development and its least developed component. Accordingly, this development can be most successfully accelerated by influencing this component. The method of differentiated reclamation of technogenous biogeocenoses is suggested, providing for the optimum correlation between economical costs and environmental efficiency. In the course of determination of types of the technogenous ecotopes according to their phytoecological correspondence, we developed generalizing criteria and determined four types of technogenous ecotopes: widely adaptive, limitedly adaptive, narrow adaptive and non-adaptive ones. Based on research data, three useful models were patented, 6 applied projects on the basis of economical agreements, one international project and one Ukrainian one were implemented, three recommendations were provided, 65 research works were published.
