The polymer nanocomposites based on polystyrene and embedded BaF2 nanoparticles are obtained. In the case of X-ray irradiation the intensity of the nanocomposite (weight content of BaF2 nanoparticles in polystyrene - 5%, the size of nanoparticles - 80 nm) is up to ~ 5 times higher than that for pure polystyrene scintillator. In the same time the scintillation pulse duration coincides with that for polystyrene scintillator (? < 2 ns). Increase of the light yield of polystyrene scintillator, while the temporal parameters are invariable, requires the nonradiative energy transfer from the nanoparticles to the polystyrene matrix.
